MP Cranes was established in 2010 with the sole purpose of providing a superior product to the overhead crane market, a market that lacked innovation and technology. After numerous complaints from our customers (all major players in the fields of coal, steel, chrome and electricity) regarding poorly manufactured and overpriced spare parts for their overhead cranes, we realized that we possessed the necessary knowledge and skill to create a solution for all the daily problems our customers had to contend with, and thus the ABS-E range of products came into existence.

After a year of research and development our first product, the ABS-E Rotary Limit was introduced to the market with positive results. The demand for the product exploded exponentially. The ABS-E Rotary Limit created a new standard in overhead crane safety, automation and ease of use. We realized that although the ABS-E Rotary Limit met certain specific needs, there were still a lot of areas for improvement in related fields. This led to the creation of the ABS-E Anti Collision Device.

The ABS-E Anti Collision Device was designed purely to provide a product that was easy to install, easy to setup and with virtually no maintenance required. Safety is always a priority and this device was created purely to create a safer production environment. It comprised of a set of devices, one installed on each of your cranes that would enable your cranes to slow down automatically and avoid collisions.

Another product the MP Cranes helped to bring to market back in 2008 was the MP250 Thyristor Controlled Drive. Due to the fact that slip ring motors were still widely used throughout the industry, a lack of control drives was a major problem. The MP250 range of drives was developed by MP Cranes, in conjunction with a partner company. MP Cranes was responsible for the industry wide testing and a financial backer on the project. The MP250 drives also offered lower maintenance costs and a very competitive price point. The internal design differed from most other drives due to the fact that the internal cards were reduced which allowed for saving time when fault finding.
